Lani and some of her friends hanging out in the hospital

The pictures say it all....

Pixar Cars 2 visit with Jay Shuster

Once a year Pixar comes to the children's hospital and shows the movie that is currently in thearter. They also bring treat bags for the children and a few animators to draw pictures for the kids.

This year Pixar brought the movie Cars 2. One of the animators that came was Jay Shuster. He posed in a picture with Lani and drew her a picture.

Happy Birthday Nilani!

On May 18th it was Nilani's birthday and she had so much fun. She recieved a few presents including a new bella bean leash (www.bellabean.com) and a teddy bear. A patient made her a birthday hat.

Nilani also recieved many birthday pictures by patients.

As you can see it was a messy sparkly day in the playroom :)

Doggy Heaven

Sorry for the long break in messages. Since we have been back at work it has been busy. Lani has been back in the swing of things full force. The other day she played fetch with 3 little boys for an hour and a half. She was in HEAVEN!

Lani also had her first visit to Fort Funston. She did not know what to do with her self. She was able to interact with other dogs and was more interested in chasing and playing with the dogs than she was in her tennis ball. That is a first. Fort Funston is amazing and has some great hiking/walking trails.

Back from vacation

Lani and I are back from vacation. Lani had so much fun being back at Canine Companions for Independence for 2 weeks. With that being said she appears to be happy back at UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital.

Since we have been back Lani has worked with many kids. I think the things that she missed the most were playing fetch in the loft with the kids and laying on patients beds with them. I am sure in the weeks ahead she will get many opportunities to do this.

We hope everyone is doing well and thanks for following Lani's adventures!

Lani is going on vacation!

There will not be any new posts for a few weeks. I dropped Lani off at Canine Companions for Independence in Santa Rosa, CA(the amazing place who gave her to us) so that she could play with other dogs and use the big doggy playground while I am on medical leave. She was so excited when we pulled into the parking lot. I know that she will be well taken care of and have a lot of fun!! She will be back to work on January 31st.

Today I was going through our drawer of finished art work to return to patients and I found some pictures that children made of Lani. I thought they were cute and wanted to share.

Playing fetch with Lani

Probably 3 to 4 days a week a few patients and siblings decide that they want to play fetch with Lani. On this particular day there were 6 patients in the loft in the playroom taking turns throwing the ball. The kids love playing fetch in the loft because they throw Lani's tennis ball into the ball pit and when Lani jumps into the ball pit to get her ball the balls go flying! This is a picture of Lani when the children were done. She was so HAPPY and TIRED.

Lani with Santa

Lani had a special visit with Santa! She loved Santa, he even let her up on his lap.
